The thing about Susan is that she survived three decades in Washington and has now decided to see if she can survive the winters in Waldoboro, Maine. She had chalked up 25 years as a professional journalist before reaching the finish line of her Washington stint as a senior communications adviser at the Brookings Institution. There was also New York City, where she worked for Rolling Stone magazine. Every long and winding career should be capped with a real adventure. Except for high tide, when her kayak will meander along the Medomak River, Susan intends to be the sole proprietor of Word Sharpener.
